Odell Beckham Jr. showcased his incredible skills once more, pulling off jaw-dropping catches during the recent Fanatics Flag Football Classic. Known for his unforgettable grabs in the NFL, he reminded everyone why he’s a standout player.
The standout moment came as he leapt into the air, catching a two-point conversion in the end zone, reminiscent of his legendary one-handed catch against the Dallas Cowboys. This stunning play marked the highlight of the event, especially with Team USA trailing 25-12 midway through the second half.
This impressive feat not only electrified fans in attendance but also caught the eye of Team USA coach, Jorge Cascudo. Impressed by Beckham’s performance, he extended an invitation for Odell to join the roster if he ever wished to engage in flag football full-time.
“Odell is an exceptional athlete. That catch was remarkable. I told him, there’s always a spot for him if he’s interested. He can come for trials and compete anytime,” Cascudo commented after the event.
Team USA finished strong in the tournament, claiming the first annual trophy of the Fanatics Flag Football Classic. They dominated their opponents, including both current and former NFL players, with an overwhelming score of 106-44. The performance highlighted that not every NFL star is equipped for success on the flag football field.

Beyond Odell’s remarkable catch, Cascudo shared insights regarding the challenges NFL players faced adapting to the rules of flag football.
“For defensive backs, the hardest adjustment will be to play without contact. They often found it frustrating. We sometimes experience frustration too, thinking we didn’t even touch them and still get penalized,” Cascudo explained.
In flag football, certain actions like screening, blocking, and running with a lead blocker result in penalties of minus 10 yards. NFL players had difficulty adapting to these changes, as instinctively blocking opponents is part of their game. It’s also important to note that defenders cannot attempt to strip the ball, or they face a 10-yard penalty.
Meanwhile, Odell is reportedly considering a return to the NFL. Before the Fanatics event, he expressed hope for an opportunity to compete professionally this year.
“I’m excited about the possibility of playing this year. I hope this event is just the beginning,” Odell shared with Kay Adams of FanDuel TV.
Should an NFL return not materialize, Odell seems to have a spot ready for him on Team USA’s flag football team. Although it may not be the platform he aspires to, it would be thrilling to see him compete, especially if he participates in the Olympics in 2028.
