Nick Lachey, known for his musical achievements with 98 Degrees, is also a passionate supporter of the Cincinnati Bengals. Recently, his frustrations as a fan became evident, especially after a tough game on Sunday.
“What a spirited effort today in front of the home fans to wrap up this disappointing season,” Lachey posted on X. “It’s reassuring to see Zac (Taylor, head coach) hasn’t lost the team… what a joke. I’m sure nothing will change. Here’s to more of this next year.”
This outburst came after a Week 18 loss to their rivals, the Cleveland Browns. The Bengals initially took the lead with only 1:29 left on the clock when quarterback Joe Burrow connected with wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase for a touchdown, bringing the score to 18-17. Unfortunately, the two-point conversion attempt fell short.
The Bengals needed only to stop the Browns to end the season on a high note. However, rookie quarterback Shedeur Sanders orchestrated a drive from his own 29-yard line all the way to the Bengals’ 31, culminating in a game-winning field goal by Andre Szmyt.
This defeat not only marked the end of the Bengals’ season at 6-11 but also highlighted a significant achievement for Myles Garrett, who broke the single-season sack record on the same day. Meanwhile, the Browns advanced to 5-12. This loss also indicated the third losing season under Taylor’s leadership in his seven years as head coach.
Lachey’s frustrations have not been isolated incidents. Earlier this season, he made a sarcastic remark upon discovering that his team had the worst scoring defense in the past half-century.
Well @Bengals fans, we’re making history. Congratulations!! #WhoDey https://t.co/um2FkCo6W6

After the Bengals were blanked 24-0 by the Ravens on December 14—a crucial game for their slim playoff hopes—Lachey expressed his disbelief on social media. The Bengals couldn’t score a single point, leading him to declare, “INSANITY ‘Doing the same thing over and over again expecting different results,'” he tweeted. “Zac has to go. Change has to happen. Anything else is literally nuts.”
As it stands, Taylor holds a record of 52-62-1 in his tenure. Although he has led the Bengals to playoff appearances, including a trip to the Super Bowl, the team has been absent from the postseason since the 2022 season.
