Michael Irvin is not letting his iconic “belt to ass” celebration fade away. The Miami Hurricanes legend recently told TMZ Sports he’s reintroducing it for every game next season. No exceptions.
During Miami’s playoff run, Irvin captured social media attention with his unique celebratory style, striking a water cooler after wins as if it owed him something. Despite the Hurricanes’ loss in the College Football Playoff final, Irvin remains undeterred.
In fact, he’s ramping up the enthusiasm.
“We’re going undefeated next year,” Irvin boldly declared. “So get ready. Expect to see a lot of belt to asses.”
That’s either steep confidence or a heads-up for opponents. And he’s taking it further than just college football.
Irvin expressed that if the Dallas Cowboys give him the reason, he’ll bring that celebration to the NFL as well. After spending time with the new Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer, he came away with a renewed sense of excitement.
He’s particularly enthusiastic about the potential of George Pickens joining forces with CeeDee Lamb.
“This league’s about scoring points,” Irvin emphasized. “They have the capability to excel at that.”
He added that a solid defense could see Dallas right back in contention.
Irvin, now 60, still has the physique to compete, claiming he has only gained one pound since retiring.
So, what’s the secret?
“Stay purposeful. Stay driven.”
And keep that belt ready. Because if Miami finds success next season, you already know what to expect.
