Apart from yet another playoff loss to the Kansas City Chiefs—something fans are starting to think might be a yearly rite of passage for Josh Allen—2025 has been an exceptional year for the Buffalo Bills quarterback. In just one offseason, the 29-year-old not only signed what is now the biggest contract in NFL history, but he also tied the knot with a superstar actress and earned the coveted title of regular season MVP. That’s quite the impressive trifecta, isn’t it?
As he dives into training camp, Allen has taken a moment to reflect on his incredible journey. For a kid who grew up in a small town, he’s done pretty well for himself. When asked what 12-year-old Josh would think of his life now, he simply smiled and said, “pretty cool.” And it’s hard to argue with that sentiment. He added, “I got to marry the woman of my dreams, my best friend. I get to play football for a living; that’s my favorite thing to do. In the offseason, I get to hang out with my family and golf a little bit, so yeah, it’s not too bad.”
On and off the field, Allen seems to have landed exactly where he’s always wanted to be. His career trajectory is on the rise, and it’s impossible not to feel excitement about what he might achieve in 2025. As a three-time Pro Bowler, he is one of only seven players across the NFL to receive the impressive distinction of a 99 overall rating on the release day for Madden NFL 26. Alongside his conference rival, Lamar Jackson, he stands as the sole quarterback on this year’s elite list.

This is the first time Allen has become a member of the 99 Club, and many argue he should have received this honor earlier given his remarkable performances over the years. Yet here we are: after years of steadily climbing through the rankings, the Wyoming product is now recognized as one of the top quarterbacks—both in the actual football world and in the virtual one. It’s been a long road that’s finally brought him to the forefront.
Of course, the ultimate achievement for Allen would be landing a Super Bowl appearance. Despite all the milestones he’s hit in his seven years as a pro, he has yet to reach the big game and has a mixed 7-6 playoff record to show for it. However, the odds seem to be shifting in his favor this season. Oddsmakers currently give Allen and the Bills the second-best odds to win the Super Bowl, with FanDuel listing them at +700, just behind the Baltimore Ravens at +650.
This marks a significant improvement from last year, when sportsbooks had the Bills as +1600 underdogs heading into the season. Within a single year, Buffalo has skyrocketed from ninth most likely to win the championship to the second shortest odds in the entire league. The stakes are getting higher, and with this kind of trust from Vegas, Allen knows he has to lead his team to an AFC Championship.
As the season unfolds, fans can’t help but feel a mixture of hope and anticipation for what’s next. Allen has demonstrated he can tackle challenges that come his way, and we’re all eagerly waiting to see if he can finally achieve that elusive Super Bowl dream.
