Sydney Sweeney is capturing attention in Hollywood like never before. While she may not be breaking box office records or sweeping major awards, her popularity with fans is undeniable for several reasons.
Recently, Sweeney opened up in an interview with Cosmopolitan, sparking even more interest, particularly among her substantial male fan base. One question that stood out was about her ideal partner. What does she seek in a guy?
Her response was both thoughtful and revealing. The highlight, however, was her mentioning that she prefers someone who is: “Athletic and outgoing and funny. I’m a sporty girl, so someone needs to be able to climb a mountain with me and go skydiving with me.”
It’s no surprise that her mention of “athletic” has prompted professional athletes to take notice. The first to respond was Los Angeles Rams All-Pro Puka Nacua.
“Love skydiving,” joked the NFL wide receiver while share-tweeting Sweeney’s quote from the interview.
Nacua wasn’t alone in his light-hearted approach. Buffalo Bills backup RB Ray Davis also jumped in on Twitter.
“I can probably add skydiving to my bucket list,” Davis quipped.
Interestingly, Sweeney is already taken. She has been dating record producer and investor Scooter Braun, 44, since last summer after they met at Jeff Bezos’ wedding. The playful attempts to grab her attention by Nacua and Davis may just scratch the surface of interest.
According to Page Six, there’s a near “constant” influx of direct messages from professional athletes to Sweeney. Despite reportedly ignoring and blocking each one, these messages have rubbed Braun the wrong way, describing them as “incredibly disrespectful.” It’s unclear if he refers to the content itself or to the audacity of messaging his partner.
In detailing her ideal partner, Sweeney emphasized her independence:
“Look, I am in charge of my own life. I pursue what I want. I am confident, successful, and I don’t need a man,” Sweeney stated. “I have myself, an amazing network of girlfriends, and a formidable team of women supporting me. That can intimidate many men, so I need someone who can stand tall with me. It takes a unique person to handle the world I navigate.”
With Page Six reporting that Braun feels challenged by her independence, Sweeney’s message seems pointed.
For Puka Nacua, Ray Davis, and other athletes, it appears that Sydney Sweeney might just end up single sooner than later.
