At 29 years old, DiNucci announced the news through his social media channels.
This will mark a return for DiNucci, who was briefly part of the Broncos practice squad in 2023 but did not see action on the field. Since then, he has had stints with the Buffalo Bills, New Orleans Saints, and Atlanta Falcons. However, his last live action came in 2020 while playing three games for the Dallas Cowboys.
In his only NFL start, DiNucci completed 21 passes on 40 attempts, amassed 180 yards, took four sacks, and fumbled twice.
With Nix out of the game, the Broncos are now relying on Jarrett Stidham to take over as the starting quarterback. Stidham has not thrown a pass in an NFL game since 2023.

Broncos head coach Sean Payton expressed confidence in Stidham’s abilities. “In fairness to what you’ve seen, which is very limited: He’s ready,” Payton told reporters. “I said this at the beginning of the season: I believe I’ve got a capable backup who can start for multiple teams, and I know he feels the same way. Just watch out. He’s got experience and has competed in games. They’re different types of players to some degree.”
Backing up Stidham will be Sam Ehlinger, who has not seen action since playing with the Indianapolis Colts in 2023. Ehlinger has been with the Broncos since the beginning of the 2025 offseason.
